My role & process
LOG System successfully introduced two desktop applications, LOG 5x and QDesk, by 2010 with almost 10k daily active users. The objective of this project was to assess the functionalities of these existing systems and consolidate them into a unified web-based solution. Leveraging the power of AI, the aim was to enhance and streamline current workflows. My role involved comprehensive responsibilities, including analysis, research, developing wireframes and prototypes, and establishing a design system for engineers to seamlessly implement the solution. As the principal product designer, I also led the creation of promotional materials, encompassing the website and email campaigns.
The assistant
Based on our user research, we identified that users predominantly rely on search functionality in their current solutions. In response, we crafted an intelligent search feature that enables users to swiftly locate a specific process from our catalog, initiate it by providing the necessary details, identify the responsible individuals, and effectively communicate the required tasks. This module serves as the core of our solution, serving as the go-to tool whenever users need to kickstart a process.
Problem statement
Users currently face challenges in efficiently navigating and initiating processes within their existing solutions.
Process wizard
Streamlining the process creation experience should be straightforward and within reach. Our research has identified that each process typically commences with the creation of a ticket, followed by planning, execution, verification, and closure. Each of these steps involves specific requirements that must be addressed to successfully complete the process. The wizard we've developed facilitates the construction of this comprehensive process by leveraging a catalog of activities tailored to each step. Notably, we've incorporated time and cost estimates for each step, offering users a clear understanding of the resources required. The design also features a visual representation of the entire process on a timeline, along with budget estimations, providing a holistic view of the workflow.
Dashboards
In addition to process management, our system boasts comprehensive data visualization capabilities across the entire application. Originating from the success of LOG 5x, where users effectively managed diverse company assets—ranging from desktop computers and laptops to cars, mobile phones, and personnel—the platform empowers users to structure their companies and organize assets by linking them to individuals. The intuitively designed dashboards serve the purpose of visually representing the usage patterns, asset-related issues, and purchased licenses. Ultimately, the platform proves instrumental in helping companies reduce operational costs by promptly identifying and addressing errors associated with their assets throughout the organization.
Final effect
After the release the application was very appreciated by existing LOG Syststems users. It combined all the required functionalities and it was accessible through browser which was the primary objective. Users gradually transferred to the new solution but also the company acquired new companies that were interested in implementing the soliction - primarily form banking and public sector.
